The Eilat-Eilot Model for Energy Independence
The Eilat-Eilot Renewable Energy Initiative is carrying out an ambitious program in the southern Arava desert to generate 100% of the region’s energy entirely from local renewable energy sources within a decade. This is to be a model of energy independence that could be emulated by other locals. It is to demonstrate how energy independence can be spurred forward by commercial and technology opportunities.
In recent years it has become apparent that in the implementation of a model of this type profitable business opportunities will abound. These opportunities are multiplying as a result of the ambitious goals and the increasingly supportive regulations that were announced by Israeli decision makers at the openings of previous conferences.
The Eilat-Eilot Renewable Energy Project marks five years of operation during which it has merited growing recognition and success.
